This fine piece of artwork was posted onto our Cadbury Dairy Milk Facebook Wall by the very talented Annabelle Gatehouse. We're loving it :-)

Have you been inspired by Cadbury's iconic imagery and branding? If so, we'd love to see your work. Upload it to the Cadbury Dairy Milk Walland we'd be delighted to feature here on our blog.

Lovely little Fairtrade animation to brighten up the afternoon

Spotted on Twitter, here's a cheeky little animation from Jack O'Shea, a student at Dun Laoire College of Art and Design in Ireland. He made it for the Fairtrade Mark Ireland and not only is it quirky and entertaining, but it perfectly illustrates how reaching in your pocket to buy a Fairtrade product, like Cadbury Dairy Milk or Cadbury Chocolate Buttons, lessens misery for the producers.

We suggest enjoying the vid with a cuppa and a square or two of Cadbury Dairy Milk.

Cadbury Dairy Milk Fans Spice Up Dessert: Part II

Welcome to Part II of our Fan dessert recipes. To recap, we asked the Cadbury Dairy Milk Facebook people how they would tart up a humble bowl of vanilla ice cream, using delicious Cadbury chocolate.

We got so many mouth watering responses, they wouldn't fit on one post. So here's Part II...

To kick us off, Ellie Martin suggests lovely fat chunks of Cadbury Crunchie sprinkled on top of a scoop of the cold stuff.

Dylan Ellis has introduced us to his 'Chocolate Frenzy' which he describes as, "Melted Cadbury Dairy Milk with fudge on the top and a Flake sticking out of each end, with Chocolate Buttons in the middle."

Amber Pullen is a Cadbury Caramel purist. She just wants small chunks of the finest from the Caramel Bunny on her ice cream. Delicious indeed.

Saira Franklin reckons grating half a bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk, and half a bar of Cadbury Dream, is the perfect way to enjoy your vanilla scoop. We're tempted, but her second idea was the winner. She suggests, "The best dessert is a banana, then melted Dream and Cadbury Dairy Milk, so it looks all marbley. Then drizzle honey and chopped almonds over the banana, and top with some whipped cream." Wow. That is definitely a feast for a family!

We like the addition of marshmallows to some melted Cadbury Dairy Milk, as recommended by Alexandra Cameron. Simple but delicious.

And finally, from the Chocolate Ninja himself... "Belgian waffles, soaked in maple syrup with melted Cadbury Dairy Milk slathered over the top. Mmmmmmmm, with Mr Whippy ice cream... it has to be Mr Whippy."

Ok, we're sold. Is 11am too early for dessert? ;-)

Hats off to the Fairtrade champions of Exmouth

Screen shot 2011-01-13 at 15.47.01

Just as the Cadbury Fairtrade story has its roots firmly in Ghana, we like to keep up to date with all the great work that happens here in the UK too.

So it's huge congratulations from us here at Fairtade Cadbury Dairy Milk to Exmouth Community College in Devon, which has been made an official Fairtrade School. They were awarded The Fairtrade Mark after 18 months of hard work from teachers and pupils to meet the exacting standards required of a Fairtrade school.

Less than 500 schools in the UK carry The Fairtrade Mark, so it's something to be very proud of. So how did they do it? A music concert and two sales of Fairtrade product to raise money have all contributed to Exmouth Community College's achievements. The pupils were visited by a cocoa farmer from Ghana too, which deputy principal Graham Allen described as, "...far more effective than reading about farming in Ghana."

Exmouth is a Fairtrade town, so this is the icing on the cake for a community so committed to the Fairtrade movement.

Today we sent the staff and students a parcel of Fairtrade Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate to say a big well done from us.

We in the Cadbury Fairtrade Team salute you all :-)

Cadbury Dairy Milk Fans Spice up Dessert: Part I

We are utterly devoted to the wonder that is Cadbury Dairy Milk and so are the half a million fans on Facebook. So rather than scrabble around the internet for the best way to tart up an ailing dessert bowl of ice cream, we asked our wonderful Facebookers how they would give the classic vanilla scoop some Cadbury magic.

And they didn't let us down...

Karen Richmond says, "Pancakes with Cadbury Caramel inside, zapped in the microwave for 10-20 seconds. Yum!"

Ice cream milkshake lovers will approve of Dean Hill's idea. "Make a smoothie with ice cream and a few Wispa bars." That sounds like a great one to share with mates. Two straws please, sir!

Many Fans recommend a crushed up Cadbury Flake on top of a scoop of vanilla. Special salutes for that simple yet highly effective strategy to Shannon Boult, Rosie Craske, Carol Dubbins, Katie Laidler, Bernadette MacKenzie and many more clever Flake fans.

Introducing some gorgeous fruit is always a good plan. Aaron Burns' idea of dipping strawberries in melted Cadbury Dairy Milk makes us yearn for summer.

On that same refreshing tip, Aj Sillence recommends a big bowl of ice cream topped with melted Cadbury Dairy Milk, chopped bananas and strawberries, with a sprinkling of crushed up chocolate biscuits to finish. Another corker for sharing there.

Jason McKenzie's recipe should have mouths watering. He says, "Chocolate Buttons and Crunchie chunks all stirred into the ice cream, which is on top of a Belgian waffle, then both covered in golden syrup." Blimey. Best served as a very occasional treat, we think!

Waffles are certainly a recurring theme, as Jenny Louise Green tells us that melting Cadbury Dairy Milk over a Belgian waffle is, "Yum, yum, yum!" Couldn't agree more.

There's many more lip-smacking dessert ideas, courtesy of our Facebook fans, so we'll bring you the rest very soon in Part II.

Wonderful Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate Cookies

Screen shot 2011-01-06 at 16.01.30
When we got back to work this week, our newsfeed was chocka with wonderful articles posted over the Christmas break.

Our eye was caught by a fabulous chocolate cookie recipe created by talented Australian cook, Ellie Won. Our pals at Cadbury Australia approached Ellie to devise something wonderful using Fairtrade Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate, as part of the Fair@Square Fair Trade Festival in Melbourne. And this is what she came up with.

We think this is the perfect way to perk up January blues and treat yourselves on a Friday, so go on, be a bit naughty this new year and make a batch.

National Farmers Day Celebrations in Ghana

Screen shot 2011-01-06 at 11.13.38
Our man in Ghana, Joe Bbirikadde, has written about the celebrations that took place at the end of 2010 in honour of National Farmers' Day. While for some it's a good excuse to enjoy a day of work with family and friends, the agricultural industry of Ghana uses this national holiday to honour achievements made throughout the year. Here's more from Joe...

"National Farmers' Day celebrations take place annually in December. Last year was launched at the Ghana International Trade Fair Centre in Accra, under the theme "Grow More Food".

"The Minister of Food and Agriculture, Kwesi Ahwoi, explained that the theme of the event was chosen so that Ghanaian farmers understand the reason for National Farmers' Day.

"Crops and livestock accounted for 8.2% of Ghana's GDP in 2009, which is the highest percentage in 16 years. The Ghanaian government is prioritising agriculture and the results say it all. Minister Ahwoi also stressed that the government is doing everything possible to improve the living conditions of farmers.

"The Cadbury Cocoa Partnership (CCP) is committed to improving the lives of cocoa farmers in Ghana. With that in mind, the CCP has entered into a partnership with the cocoa governing body in Ghana, called COCOBOD. Our joint vision is to enable thriving rural communities to further support a sustainable cocoa supply chain in Ghana.

"The Cadbury Cocoa Partnership has also been consistent in its work with the government by unceasingly communicating that farmers should be taught how to treat their farms as sustainable business enterprises.

"Financial institutions in Ghana have also come on board and committed themselves to supporting the agricultural sector. With farmers now treating their livelihoods as a business, a new ray of hope is being seen, with the nationally owned Agricultural Development Bank developing farming products.

"Several farmers were awarded for best practice. Selection of winners was based on knowledge of husbandry and record keeping, environmental awareness and adoption of new technology.

"2010 was a great year for the Ghanaian farming sector and we are hoping 2011 will be even better.

"From the Cadbury Cocoa Partnership Ghana coordination team - Yaa, Hope, Ben, Theo, Anna and myself, Joseph - we wish the cocoa farming community a terrific year."
