Halloween Special: The Gargoyle's Last Surprise

We've been getting into the spine-chilling spirit of Halloween at Cadbury Dairy Milk HQ. Over a week ago we asked our Facebook Fans to vote on three plot variations to help us create a creepy story.

They voted to feature a young bride-to-be, a ruined chapel and a mysterious and cursed carving. Then we went off and worked with some incredibly talented people to film our storyteller recounting the spook-tacular tale.

Here it is: The Gargoyle's Last Surprise. And judging by the comments coming from the Fans on the Cadbury Dairy Milk page, we would recommend sleeping with the lights on...

Hot from the edit suite... Fairtrade Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate sculpting

Here's our video showing the best of our day spent in Covent Garden with food artist Prudence Staite, as she carved eye-popping Cadbury Dairy Milk sculptures. Thanks to cameraman Tim for producing such a lovely moving montage of the day for us.

Great day, great crowd, great fun :-)

Fairtrade: 500 Miles for 500 Towns

We're big fans of Fairtrade trail-blazer Bruce Crowther, particularly after interviewing him for this blog earlier this year.

He has written a great article on the progress of the cyclists making their way from Aberfeldy in Scotland down to Cardiff, in celebration of the UK making 500 Fairtrade towns. Read Bruce's words here

Also check out the videos filmed by the guys at the Fairtrade Foundation (@fairtradeuk) from the cyclists themselves. Good luck everyone! We'll have more updates for you as and when.

On yer bike...

As you Fairtraders know, Garstang was the first town in the world to be given Fairtrade status. And now that the UK is approaching 500 Fairtrade Towns, plans are well underway to celebrate.

And what better way to do this, than with a 500 mile bike ride all the way from Aberfeldy, Scotland's first Fairtrade town, to Cardiff in Wales, the first Fairtrade capital city.

Fairtrade Town campaigners will be setting off on October 23rd and plan to arrive at their destination on November 1st. Along the way they will have pit-stopped at Hadrian's Wall, Kendal, Chester, Hay-on-Wye, among many others.

The 500th UK Fairtrade Town is yet to be declared, but with plans to celebrate the 1,000th Fairtrade Town early next year, it surely can't be a long wait. Good luck to the cyclists!

The Cadbury Fairtrade mission to send 5,000 bikes to Ghana is still fresh in our minds. So while we celebrate on bikes here in the UK, over in Ghana two wheels are changing the lives of cocoa farmers and their families.

Now that is what we call sweet accord :-)

And here is our magnificent second Fairtrade Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate sculpture, Cadbury the Chocodile.

Once again, our Facebook Fans helped us name him.

Presenting... Octavia Coco Cadbury

Our beautiful Fairtrade Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate octopus is complete. After a Facebook vote, the Fans there decided to name her Octavia Coco Cadbury.

What do you think? We reckon she's a beauty...

Cadbury Chocolate Sculpting in Covent Garden!

Prudence

Our Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate Sculpting day is well under way. Here's Prudence Staite, food artists and chocolate super-fan.

Right now she's busy constructing a big octopus! The Cadbury Dairy Milk Facebook fans have been dreaming up some fantastic suggestions. We like Octavia Coco Cadbury so far.

The free samples of Cadbury Dairy Milk are going down a treat. Hardly a surprise though eh? We started off with 5,000 this morning and we'll go home with none!

Covent Garden plays host to Cadbury chocolate sculptor this Friday!

Have we got some fantastic tricks up our sleeve over on our Cadbury Dairy Milk Facebook fan page this week...

This Friday, we will be staking out a corner of London's Covent Garden with our friend Prudence, the chocolate sculptor. We'll be there from 10am in the piazza, so bring yourself and a gang of mates to see the show. We'll be there all day, come and say hi!

Prudence will be creating something epic from the delicious Fairtrade Cadbury Dairy Milk we all know and love, and the Facebook Fans will help us to decide what she makes. We've already had some amusing suggestions (chocolate teapot anyone?), so head over to the Cadbury Dairy Milk fan page and tell us what you want to see made.

Alongside the build-up to Friday, there will be random giveaways and chat about all things chocolate. So keep your eyes peeled, because you could bag anything from a bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk to a trip for four to Cadbury World.

If you can't make it down to Covent Garden on Friday then fear not. Ria from Cadbury Dairy Milk HQ will be there all day to live-blog on the Facebook page. There will be photos, videos, crowd reactions vox pops with Prudence and all the inside gossip from the day.

It's going to be awesome. Visit us on Facebook and don't forget to tell your mates :-)

Fairtrade Congratulations to Glossopdale!

Screen shot 2010-10-07 at 13.00.33
We say a very hearty congratulations to the people of Glossopdale, as the town has been officially declared Fairtrade!

The culmination of four years hard work, they celebrated with an arts and crafts stall, Christmas gifts from Oxfam, and Fairtrade music and song by local resident Rachael Levitan and the pupils at Padfield Primary School, Glossop's first Fairtrade school.

Wonderful and well done Glossop!
